Trigger finger, or stenosing tenosynovitis, is when a finger or thumb becomes stuck in a flexed position and straightens with a snap. The finger or thumb can become locked in the flexed position if the case of trigger finger is severe enough.
Repetitive gripping actions contribute to this disorder, which is more common in women.
